One of the most lethal weapons we have in the game at the moment. John smith actor photos11/27/2023 Meisner was a highly respected acting teacher who taught future stars like Gregory Peck, Jon Voight, Robert Duvall, Edmund O'Brien and Grace Kelly. After studying with Boone for a year, Boone was impressed enough with Robert's potential that he recommended him to Sanford Meisner who accepted Robert into the New York Neighbourhood Playhouse School Of Theatre. This was a pivotal move for Robert as the class impressed him so much he changed his mind, decided to stay in show business and take a shot at becoming an actor. However his dad, along with his long time pal Chuck Courtney, convinced him to attend Richard Boone's acting class. When he returned home in 1955 he decided to give up his career in show business as he did not see any future in it. His unit was 19th Infantry Regiment and he was chosen 3 times as the outstanding soldier on Guard Mount, a decision based upon appearance, knowledge of military subjects and bearing. In 1953, while the Korean war was on, Robert at the age of 19 was drafted into the United States Army where he served 2 years, 15 months of which was in Korea. His Dad convinced him to look for jobs as a dancer which he did successfully getting roles in I Love Melvin with Debbie Reynolds, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with Marilyn Monroe and Latin Lovers with Lana Turner. This was followed by extra work in a great many films including Raintree County with Liz Taylor, The Harder They Fall with Humphrey Bogart and The Man In The Grey Flannel Suit with Gregory Peck. After joining SEG Robert started doing extra work and in 1952 got his first job in the movie Above and Beyond with Robert Taylor. This was the start of Robert's journey into acting, and it was then he changed from Robert Simpson Jr to Robert Fuller. He met a number of people around his own age of 18 years, who were members of the Screen Extras Guild, and they convinced him to join as they were earning significantly more than Robert. The most significant of these was at Graumans Chinese Theatre where he started as a doorman and worked his way up to Assistant Manager. After the move to Hollywood Robert had several jobs. This included working in many top grade musicals such as Oklahoma, Jailhouse Rock, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in which young Robert Fuller also appeared as a dancer in the chorus line. His dad subsequently changed his name to Robert Cole and danced in almost every musical made between 1950 up to his retirement in 1987. Robert's dad became a very accomplished dancer, and had a plan to get into the motion picture business as a dancer, which he did successfully. In 1950 when Robert was just 16 his parents decided to move to Hollywood. In the daytime his mother taught ballet to the local children and in the evening they both taught ballroom dancing to the hundreds of navy personnel who were stationed in Key West at that time. She taught him to dance, and this led to them opening a dance school in Key West. Eventually, Betty convinced Robert Simpson to quit the navy. Robert was very close to his step-dad and considered him as a dad rather than a step-dad, so for the remainder of this biography I will refer to him as Robert's dad or father. At the time he had no idea what his name should be but he had a relative with a first name of Fuller and he figured it went well with his name so the handle of Robert Fuller was created. This changed when Robert started acting and he decided he needed a different handle. When his mother Betty married Robert Simpson, Robert took the name Robert Simpson Jr. He worked a variety of jobs before moving to Hollywood. Robert quit school at 9th grade as he did not enjoy school and openly admits he did not do well there. At this time Betty met and married Robert Simpson who was a naval officer and they moved to Chicago for one year then returned to Key West where he attended Robert attended Key West High for 9th grade. After that he spent one year in a standard school. Robert was put into Miami Military Academy, where he did 5th to 6th grade. Robert started his education at St Mary's in New York and when his mother Betty divorced she took Robert and they moved to Florida where she was nightclub dancer. He was an only child and his birth name was Leonard Leroy Lee, but he was nicknamed Buddy Lee by his friends. Robert Fuller was born in Troy, New York on Jat 1:50 PM and was raised in Key West, Florida. Joe biden executive orders list11/27/2023 Deepen the Biden-Harris Administration’s whole-of-government commitment to environmental justice. The new Executive Order, Revitalizing Our Nation’s Commitment to Environmental Justice for All, will: Throughout Earth Week, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and other Cabinet-level officials are holding events and announcing commitments focused on how the President’s Investing in America agenda is creating good-paying clean energy jobs, lowering costs, meeting our climate goals, advancing environmental justice and conservation, and strengthening communities that for too long were left behind or left out. That means cleaner air and water, reduced risk for asthma, cancer, and other health burdens, and better access to green space, safe and affordable housing, and clean transportation.įor President Biden, protecting our planet starts with ensuring everyone lives in a safe and healthy environment. With this action, the President is working to ensure that all people – regardless of race, background, income, ability, Tribal affiliation, or zip code – can benefit from the vital safeguards enshrined in our nation’s foundational environmental and civil rights laws. These communities with environmental justice concerns face even greater burdens due to climate change. For far too long, communities across our country have faced persistent environmental injustice through toxic pollution, underinvestment in infrastructure and critical services, and other disproportionate environmental harms often due to a legacy of racial discrimination including redlining. The Executive Order is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s whole-of-government effort to confront longstanding environmental injustices and inequities. To continue delivering on that vision, today the President will sign an executive order further embedding environmental justice into the work of federal agencies to achieve real, measurable progress that communities can count on. During his first week in office, President Biden launched the most ambitious environmental justice agenda in our nation’s history. President Biden and Vice President Harris believe that every person has a right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and live in a healthy community – now and into the future. Up and vanished season 3 paul11/27/2023 To what end, really, was that entire side plot about Charles's father and the mystery artist (who turned out to be Shirley MacLaine) with whom he was in love? You could say the same about Charles's daughter figure, Lucy, or even the mystery paternity of Oliver's son. What aggravated me during long stretches of Only Murders Season 2 was the sense that the show was taking meandering detours into the characters' personal lives soley in service of treading water until the mystery of who killed Bunny (Jayne Houdyshell) could get solved. And while that investigation ended up tying in to things like Mabel's personal history, those personal details were supplemental to the mystery. Only Murders in the Building didn't thrive solely on Agatha Christie-level mystery storytelling in its first season, and it definitely owed a lot of its success to the charm and chemistry of Martin, Short, and Gomez as its leads, but the Tim Kono murder was very satisfying to puzzle through as our protagonists/podcasters amassed clues, investigated suspects, hit dead ends, and ultimately figured it out. I don't think I ended up with quite the same bad taste in my mouth for Season 2, although I'll chalk that up to a final 15-20 minutes in the finale that sold me with a lot of chutzpah and energy (if not a super satisfying solution to the mystery, but I'll get to that), not to mention a tease for Season 3 that worked on me despite all my higher faculties telling me not to be such a sucker.īut you're right that there was something lacking at the center of this season, and I agree that that's where a satisfying mystery should have gone. Joe Reid: The only person who needs to cool it is Michael Rappaport doing his usual Michael Rappaport thing in yet another TV show. Did this bother you at all, or do I need to cool it? I’m not saying I need the show to be “realistic,” but you can’t just toss in any old revelation to move the story forward. We’ve never heard about this before, even though plenty of stressful stuff has befallen her, but I guess when the writers are too lazy to justify their choices in any other way, the sudden revelation of selective amnesia will do. How fortunate! And how very convenient that immediately after Mabel (Selena Gomez) stabs a bad guy on a train, we learn that she enters a fugue state when something stressful happens and then can’t remember anything. This season, however, the writers seemed almost hostile to the idea of delivering a coherent mystery plot.įor instance, Charles (Steve Martin) gets one of his biggest clues when he inexplicably decides to pry the back off his dad’s old watch, where he just happens to find an engraved message. I mean… I know I didn’t dream it, but I also know that Season 1 was especially pleasurable because it worked as a murder mystery as much as it did a comedy. Did I maybe dream that I found it to be such sparkling entertainment? And hoo boy, the back half of this season was such a trainwreck that I’m almost doubting whether I enjoyed the first season. I’d heard from others that the series had dropped off in quality, but at that point it still had everything I loved from the first year: Smart writing, great jokes, excellent performances, and production design that made me want to move into the Arconia, no matter how many people have died there. Mark Blankenship: Joe, when we first agreed to talk about the second season of Only Murders in the Building, I was only five episodes in, and I felt confident I’d be a cheerleader. Was it worth the return visit? We put that question to Mark Blankenship and Joe Reid, Primetimer’s Reviews Editor and Managing Editor. A second season was inevitable, and it has just dropped its finale. Hulu’s mystery-comedy - which stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as neighbors who start a podcast about the murders in their fancy New York apartment building - was one of TV’s breakout hits last year, and its first season is currently nominated for a whopping 17 Emmys. Primetimer’s own Aaron Barnhart recently argued that all shows should end after their first batch of episodes, and he was only sort of kidding.īut when a series is as popular, critically lauded, and awards-laden as Only Murders in the Building, the fear of diminishing returns is not going to stand in the way. Second seasons can be notoriously tricky. The following post references the Season 2 finale of Only Murders in the Building, which releases today on Hulu. Bug juice drink 201711/27/2023 Outside of those demographics, you’ll probably find your face turning inside out after the first swallow. If you’re under the age of twelve, you’ll probably like Bug Juice, and if you’re an adult who eats lemons for fun, you’ll probably like Bug Juice, too. As an adult, I’m probably not supposed to like blue raspberry as much as I do, but even I can’t get down with drinking a whole bottle of what is essentially the outer coating on a blue Warhead candy. The truth is, this drink is marketed just for kids, and the taste is something only a kid would really want to drink. Honestly, it could have tasted like Windex and I still wouldn’t have had any hard feelings for Fangs Eyebrow. Bug Juice, you are a tease in every way.īug Juice definitely delivers on the packaging, from the cute critters to the petite size to the mysterious patriotism. However, going to that URL results in a holding page, informing me that the website is in development and will be online soon. I was dying to know more about my new friends. bottle, I felt like I needed to coat the inside of my mouth with a Lip Smacker.Īn inexplicably award-shaped ribbon urges me to meet the bugs at I wanted to, I really did. The biggest difference is that Bug Juice really amps up the sour – after drinking half of the kid-sized 10 oz. Just harken back to Kool-Aid’s Berry Blue, which I consider to be the grandfather of all blue foods, whether or not that is actually true, and you’ll get the idea of how this Bug Juice tastes. So, as you might imagine, it tastes like most other blue raspberry things – sweet, but also with a nice kick of sour that leaves your lips all puckery and the back of your throat slightly angry at you. The fact that most blue foods are also raspberry flavored (way to take up the red market, cherry) is just an added bonus. I would think this to be an unlikely flavor for actual bug juice, but who am I to question? I also find the term “berry raspeberry” to be a bit redundant I suppose it could be taken to mean “raspberry and also some other random berries you may have heard of”, but since the ingredient list predictably only lists “natural and artificial flavors”, we’ll never know.īut how does it taste? If you’re like me, you’re a sucker for all things that are both blue and ingestible. As you can see, the liquid is colored neon blue, and is described as “Berry Raspberry”. I don’t have the answers to any of these questions, so let’s move on to the drink itself. Why is it so prominent? Do they really think I’m going to care that my Bug Juice is made in the U.S.A., when there’s so much more going on here? Most obviously, what is it doing there? It has nothing to do with my interesting insect friends. I have several questions about that flag. There’s also a giant American flag, which I didn’t immediately notice in the store, being all absorbed in the potential mishaps of the Bug Brigade. Let’s ignore the “especially for kids” part and get to the real meat: FROM THE JUNGLES OF THE GREAT NORTH COAST! Which coast? What continent? These guys are getting more interesting all the time! What a cast of characters! Who knows what kinds of wacky adventures they’ll get into next? We don’t know a whole lot about their backgrounds, but I did find this: There’s also some sort of scared worm, but he seems to be more of a bit player. The label is adorable – there’s a polka-dotted bee…thing, a vampire-fanged spider (obviously the villain in the cartoon tie-in – I mean look at those eyebrows), a humble ladybug that may or may not have been poisoned by Fangs Eyebrow, and that obviously drunk guy at the bottom that my Internet research tells me must be some sort of centipede/millipede hybrid. Maybe that’s true, but hey – it was 8am, I was hungover, and I bought it. On first glance, it seems to be nothing more than a novelty kid’s drink, no more original than those little plastic baby bottles filled with candy that make me vaguely uncomfortable for some reason. Bug Juice – is it truly a junk food, you ask? Maybe not per se, but as I examined this little gem in the beverage section of my local convenience store, I just couldn’t resist its charms.
